6D Tape is designed for physiotherapy, lymphatic therapy, and active self-care. The unique 6D handles can move tissue in six different directions.

The self-care kit includes treatment instructions and pre-cut 6D handle tapes for two treatment sessions lasting 3–10 days.

Purpose:

Treatment of post-breast surgery scars and swelling: During the formation of a scar after breast surgery, there is a risk of adhesions developing between damaged tissues. This often leads to restricted tissue gliding, as well as decreased tissue flexibility and range of motion. A scar adhered to connective tissue (fascia) often causes movement limitations and pain, not only at the scar site but also elsewhere in the body due to tightness along the connective tissue chains.

Lymphatic flow occurs in the surface layers of the skin. Swelling or lymphedema may occur when adhered scar tissue prevents lymphatic flow. Lymphedema can also result from the removal or damage of lymph nodes. If lymph nodes have been removed from the armpit of a breast cancer patient, there is a risk of lifelong arm lymphedema.

Soft tissue manipulations can increase mobility and flexibility in the scar area, detach scar adhesions in connective tissue, and reduce swelling.

Dosage:

Read the treatment instructions included in the package! Scar treatment should begin no later than 3 weeks after scar formation or immediately after stitch removal. However, do not begin scar treatment if breast cancer treatments are ongoing – consult with your treating physician first. Scar treatment is performed by mobilizing the scar area directly, as instructed.

Swelling around the scar area should be treated earlier by activating lymphatic flow around the scar without moving the scar itself or interfering with scar healing. Even older scars can benefit from treatment since the body’s connective tissue continuously remodels itself. Therefore, breaking down adhesions and promoting flexibility in the scar is possible even years after scar formation.

First, activate the supraclavicular area (supraclavicular fossa) by pressing and lifting the handles about 15 times for one minute.

  1. Scar treatment: Continue activation in the scar area by pressing, lifting, and rotating the handles for 5–10 minutes. Conclude the treatment by pressing and lifting the handle 15–30 times for one minute in the supraclavicular area.
  2. Treatment of arm swelling: Continue activation by pressing, lifting, and rotating the handles first in the shoulder area, then in the elbow area, and finally in the palm area. Treat each area for about 1–2 minutes. Continue the treatment in reverse order, moving from bottom to top. Conclude the treatment by pressing and lifting the handle 15–30 times for one minute in the supraclavicular area.
  3. Treatment of arm lymphedema: Then activate the lymph node area in the groin about 15–30 times for one minute. Continue activation by pressing, lifting, and rotating the handles first in the shoulder area, then in the elbow area, and finally in the palm area. If wearing a compression sleeve, there is no tape on the elbow area. Treat each area for 1–2 minutes. Continue the treatment in reverse order, moving from bottom to top. Conclude the treatment by pressing and lifting the handle 15–30 times for one minute, first in the groin lymph node area and then in both the left and right supraclavicular areas.

Repeat treatment every 3–4 hours.

Additional Information:

6D Tape handle tape is designed to enable tissue mobilization in six different directions. The six directions are forward, sideways, and upward along the x, y, and z axes, as well as rotational movements around each axis. Tissue mobilization positively affects lymphatic flow, blood circulation, fascia, scar tissue, muscles, and joints. Tissue activation through upward and downward movement of the handles promotes tissue metabolism and fluid flow.

6D Tape has CE marking as a Class 1 medical device in Europe in accordance with the Medical Device Directive MDD 93 / 42 / EEC.
